This position requires a minimum of an AA in the areas of Education, Medical/Nursing, Psychology, Speech or other related fields, and/or three (3) years or more of direct experience working with individuals with a developmental disability. An instructor also needs to be in good health, mentally and physically, due to the rigorous demands of the job. In certain circumstances on-the-job training can be utilized for the right individual. Familiarity with common computer programs and technology preferred.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Collaborate with Supervising Lead Instructor to develop necessary reports
-
Provide one-on-one direct services to participant(s) including but not limited to: instruction, goal setting and planning, coordinating the instruction, data collection, and review of all areas of independent living

Assist in securing housing, monitor medical appointments and records, including recording medication log, and assist participants in emergencies (i.e. medical, legal) if needed

Carry out instructions of any Behavioral Management Plan that may be in place (developed by a qualified behavioral specialist)

Document hours of direct service and prepare bi-monthly billings with necessary backup documentation, maintain records of participant services and type of services

Interface with private and government agencies

Provide frequent client updates, recording client progress and attendance.

Maintain current credentials and update training as required by the State of California and/or other Professional licensing

Use specific adaptive skills for participants who may be deaf, blind, or physically disabled as needed

Arrange transportation and schedules with client’s program(s), medical appointments, recreational activities, field trip(s), and vacation plan(s)

Other duties as required to secure quality services for the client
